Alex McVicker

Alex McVicker

Senior Consultant

Together with Brian, Alex is responsible for our Real Time Payments practice. He works directly with our clients, actively and passionately pursuing the best outcomes for their business.

Alex brings a spirited and grounded approach and is responsible for leading our Analyst teams in delivering against our client’s objectives. Projects he has delivered range from retail business banking strategy, TOM review and implementation, Real Time Payment platform research and analysis, and marketing campaigns to name a few.

Over the last 12 months he has been leading a team of Analysts in delivering Confirmation of Payee, a brand new overlay service for the UK payments market.

Alex started his career in Sales with an Engineering background before deciding to retrain in financial services. Subsequently, he graduated 1st Class with Honours in Economics and Finance from the University of Southampton. He enjoys talking about Kenya, his home country, and also plays squash competitively in the Warwickshire leagues.

Sarah Matthews

Office Manager

Sarah is responsible for managing our office and all the administration activities associated with this, including all HR processes, accounting and company administration.

Neil Ludvigsen

Research Analyst

Neil brings a level of journalistic and creative writing to power our Research and Insights function. He has also supported a major UK retail bank in re-writing all of their debit and credit card marketing communications, and the launch of a new debit card homepage.

Recently he has been deeply involved in developing our internal methodologies that underpin the quality of our project delivery.

Neil graduated 1st Class with Honours in History from the University of Kent. A proud Yorkshire man, he enjoys travelling, watching the football and is an avid supporter of his local rugby league team, Wakefield Trinity.

Santosh Nakra-Shah

Managing Partner

San has over 20 years’ experience in retail banking and mobile. During this period she has held key roles in new product development, customer proposition design and business strategy, where she has been responsible for delivering many landmark product launches and new business propositions.

Since launching ChilliMint, San has worked primarily with Visa as the lead client interface across many of the leading UK&I Issuing Banks. In her role at Visa she has delivered more than 50 assignments ranging from proposition & product development, business insight and analysis as well as developing turnaround strategies that drive increased levels of customer engagement and bank profitability.

San brings her natural enthusiasm and proven industry experience to every assignment, using this to quickly understand the problem and develop new thinking and business solutions.

Emily Ward

Head of Design

Emily joined us from Visa Europe, bringing 10 years of valuable experience in the payments and marketing industry. She is the creative addition to our team, bringing a visual flair to everything that we do. Emily puts our client’s needs at the centre of her work, taking their ideas and presenting them in creative, exciting, and insightful ways.

She has worked on co-brands and partnership campaigns for high profile banks and retailers. Creating the designs for cross-border digital campaigns, PowerPoint propositions and infographics, as well as merchandise and large scale digital and print assets for sponsorship events and festivals, such as The Olympics, FIFA & Boardmasters.

Emily studied Art at University for the Creative Arts in Surrey and Graphic Design and Illustration at Hertfordshire University. In her spare time, she watches and plays ice hockey with her daughter and enjoys going to gigs.

Simeon Borisov

Consultant

Simeon has a wide range of experience across card portfolio optimisation, marketing, strategy and project management. He has put this to great effect working closely with banks, payment system operators and payment institutions to help solve their challenges and drive business value.

In the last 12 months he has quickly developed a specialist knowledge in Real Time Payments, directly supporting clients in writing compelling bids for major Real Time Payments platform RfPs.

Simeon has earned his Masters in Finance and Investment from Durham and prior to that, a degree in Economics from Loughborough. When he’s not at the office, he is a keen boxing fan and is also learning how to restore an old classic car to its former glory.

Bavneeta Takhar

Senior Consulting Analyst

Bavneeta has joined us from the University of Leicester where she studied Mathematics with Management. She brings enthusiasm and strong analytical skills to the role.

Gurjeev Satsavia

Senior Consulting Analyst

Gurjeev brings an enthusiastic and logical approach to all he does. He has been involved in a range of projects such as RfP responses, card growth strategy, and marketing communications. Recently he analysed the card usage data for a retail bank in the Nordics that informed their 5 year card growth strategy.

Gurjeev attended the University of Manchester where he completed a degree in International Business Finance and Economics, he then went on to complete a Masters in Finance, graduating with Merit. Outside of work Gurjeev is a keen sports enthusiast. He is a member of his local boxing gym and cricket club, whilst also maintaining a strict gym routine as part of his bodybuilding hobby.

Strategic Marketing Consultant

Ellie joined us from the University of Birmingham where she graduated 1st Class with Honours in Business Management.

Over the last 12 months she has worked across a variety of projects on real time payments, card portfolio analysis, B2B payments, and merchant & issuer payment product solutions amongst others.

A personal highlight for her was supporting a client’s bid on two concurrent RfPs. Ellie coordinated 4 different teams across 4 different time zones in drafting the responses to hundreds of questions.

Outside of the office she has achieved international success on the squash court and was formerly part of the Army reserves officer training corp.

Andrew Jones

Andrew Jones

Managing Director

With a career spanning more than 30 years, Andrew has held a variety of executive positions in banking and the mobile industry.

He has a proven aptitude for strategy development, P&L and commercial management and in leading all categories of retail banking products and services; from savings, mortgages and loans to the full range of current accounts, including cards and payments.

Harvey Dayal

Senior Consultant

Harvey has worked across a variety of projects from customer experience, card portfolio optimisation, strategy development, to marketing campaigns. He has also recently produced sales presentations for a wide range of banking products & solutions, engaging directly with product experts to develop a clear and engaging narrative.

Recently he led the delivery of a number of high growth strategies for our clients across the Nordics.

Harvey graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in Economics. He is a passionate football fan and regularly debates on the future of boxing with Simeon and Gurjeev.

Brian Cunnington

Brian Cunnington

Managing Partner

Brian has over 35 years experience in banking and payments, specialising in new technologies and payment services. He has particular expertise in market and customer adoption of payments. Recently, he’s helped shape the payments architecture for a challenger bank and designed a business architecture at an industry level for a future payments environment.


Brian has a deep understanding of payments and card issuing and the associated systems and processes, including a thorough knowledge of payment regulations. His extensive experience in product management and development, project management and planning ensures he is able to stand in the shoes of the client and their customers.

Haymesh Mistry

Consultant

Haymesh has been the project lead for a number of different clients all with the view of driving positive outcomes for them. He has delivered card growth strategies, user experience analyses, and marketing collateral re-writes to name a few.

Most recently he has developed an in-depth understanding of new payment technologies as well as regulation and is at the forefront of the development of Confirmation of Payee, a new payment overlay service for the UK’s leading payments authority.

A former Maths and Economics tutor, Haymesh joined us shortly after graduating with a 2:1 in French and Economics from the University of Sheffield. He enjoys spending time with his friends and family and is a self-confessed “geek” when it comes to TV & Film.

We’re experts in the banking, finance and marketing industry with a melting pot of skills and knowledge. Our consultants have worked their way up from junior to senior management and executive director positions across a multitude of roles; from banks, industry bodies, acquirers, processing schemes, ATM networks and debit and credit card businesses to mobile and international payment systems, contactless, mobile and prepaid, to name a few.

We have a unique insight into what it takes to be successful, thanks to our experience of taking responsibility for business performance, directly managing product and business P&Ls, as well as developing and launching new products and propositions. Our first-hand knowledge of initiating change, running product operations, services and systems, and our deep understanding of the industry throughout Europe means we are able to fully appreciate the challenges your business faces.

2x Graduate consulting analysts

We’re on the hunt for two ambitious, hard-working graduate consulting analysts to join our busy team.

This ambitious role will involve:

  • Working on a variety of client projects simultaneously
  • Conducting analysis and research on banking and financial services, across the UK and European markets, including specific research into product and service innovations, new launches, innovations and developments (e.g. ApplePay) in the industry
  • Undertaking more specific research into a client’s performance and the specific products they offer, to identify strategic growth opportunities
  • Writing reports, creating presentations and delivering back to directors and eventually to clients
  • The opportunity to travel with directors on client visits, both nationally and internationally

Essential Skills

  • Excellent academics with a minimum 2:1 degree. Preferred subjects include marketing, economics, management, business, finance, sciences or maths – but all will be considered
  • Hard-working, ambitious and driven to succeed in a consulting environment
  • Motivated by being part of a small business, with the potential for a long-term equity share
  • Highly personable; communicates with gravitas, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently but in a problem-solving, team-oriented environment
  • Commercial, able to understand financial services
  • Pragmatic and logical with a good head for numbers, able to spot trends in data
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (particularly PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Language skills are desirable but not essential
